Sounds like the SCWA, Two Ponds, etc duck hunts.

Damn cheaters make us all look bad. I am surprised this was not already happening in other parts of the country. $2000 to shoot a pen raised turkey is enough money to promote this crooked idea.

I can’t believe I got duped so badly. I was proud of the “Punta Gorda Slam” where I was able to kill Osceolas with Eastern, Rio, Merriams, Goulds, and of course pure Osceola characteristics. The parakeets and emus were a bonus. I trusted those guys, but Bill Green assures me that we will profit greatly from the class action.

Isn't that what they did at Brosnan Forest for all the railroad executives?
I remember being introduced to a douchebag one February who was bragging about killing one "all fanned out."

For all 7 birds I only paid $11,000, but being an influencer, I had to make 28 social media posts. I also had to film it for Bone Collector and sell the rights to the phrase “Punta Gorda Slam” to Jeff Budz, who is not the record holder with 13 Punta Gorda Slams in a 7 hour period. All killed with a blunt force object while drinking Mello Yello

Twenty years ago I hunted there 3 or 4 times. Quail mostly. One of the other guests talked me into shooting a turkey one morning. The bird walked in to about 40 yards and froze. I laid there for what seemed like a hour, in pain, and I finally got so aggravated I just sat up and shot him. Terrible experience. That hunt is why I won’t hunt turkey. You boys can have them all with my compliments. I can see no reason why they would put out pen birds for this purpose. But maybe they do. There was a grounds keeper, who was also a game warden in uniform. We rode around with him to see the grounds and there were turkey all over that place.

Sorry you were duped to endure that much uncomfortability. All you had to do was stand up and walk to him to shoot him. Used to hunt beside it and those released birds were not even fun. They sounded like Merriam Jake’s every time they gobbled and they gobbled a lot. Was like taking candy from a baby. Fun to put kids on though.

Yes I know a fella in the banking industry hunted there and witnessed it.
