$100k? I feel like I have $100k worth of free PSA stickers they have sent with the ammo I have bought in the last year.

The Florence County Sheriff's Office has announced a second suspect has been arrested after being on the run for over a month for the burglary of Palmetto State Armory.

On the night of May 12, two men broke into the Palmetto State Armory in Florence, South Carolina, and stole over 150 firearms valued at over $100,000. Investigators obtained arrest warrants for the father and son duo, Benjamin Lee Mercer Sr. and Benjamin Lee Mercer Jr., for the burglary and other related charges, deputies say.

On May 22, investigators arrested Benjamin Lee Mercer Jr. and charged him with burglary, grand larceny, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

On June 18, investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives set up a sting operation involving Benjamin Lee Mercer, Jr., who was out on bond since May 28.

According to investigators, Mercer, Jr. arranged to sell several of the stolen guns in Darlington County, South Carolina. Investigators further allege that Mercer, Jr. attempted to rob the confidential informant and later led deputies in a pursuit with the informant’s vehicle into Florence County. Mercer, Jr., who was armed at the time, eventually fled into an apartment on Pineland Avenue in Florence, where he barricaded and refused to surrender to deputies.

After a three-hour stand-off, which included a period of negotiation, the combined Florence County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and Florence Police Department Emergency Response Team introduced a chemical irritant into the apartment, after which Mercer, Jr. surrendered and was arrested, authorities said.

Mercer, Jr. is being held at the Florence County Detention Center without bond, deputies said.

On Friday, June 28, FCSO announced Mercer, Sr. was taken into custody in Darlington County and was booked at the Florence County Detention Center as well.

They probably used duffle bags and went only for the pistol cases. Who knows?

Hell, I didn't even know there was a PSA in Florence, much less that they got broken into.
