Milestones

In spite of everything seeming to work against us, the Lord continues to bless us. After 30 years cancer free, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer again last summer. As if that wasn't difficult enough, dementia struck her also. Through all the trials and tribulations, He still blesses us. There are good days, and there are bad days, but each day is a blessing. On April the 5th, mom and dad celebrated 65 years of marriage. A milestone that few will ever get to celebrate. And to top that, we got to celebrate mom's 91st birthday yesterday. Although time is fleeting, and days are limited, we are still blessed by His love. Love with all your heart, and cherish every moment because no one knows what tomorrow holds for us.

Prayers for your mom's comfort and peace to all of you during this time. Even as we prepare for the end of a life's journey on this earth, and we find comfort in a life well lived, the emptiness after they are gone creates a very heavy heart. All of the elders of my family have passed, the last one being my mom in February. Losing my mom was the hardest of them all. I reckon that's how it's supposed to be.


Your mom looks like a very sweet lady, happy belated birthday and may God's grace be upon her.

We will add yall to our prayer list. One thing I learned (again) as my own parents and inlaws aged and passed, it makes our own mortality all that much apparent. Time is the most precious gift.

Congratulations on the blessings that have been sent to you and your family. Having the opportunity to celebrate both of those milestone is something most don't have the chance to do. Be thankful for everything that had came your way even if some of the news you received is considered bad. God has a plan and all he ask from us is to have faith in him. Obviously it is easier said than done. God bless you and your family.

This thread struck home because my own mother is 90 years old and facing issues of her own, but overall seems to be doing OK.
