Was watching a few 3-4lb bass Sunday in a pond. Grabbed a cicada, pulled one wing off and threw it on top of them. Looked like a gang initiation.
Yall can have them, they been sounding off for 3 weeks in Lexington. Id rather hear the birds. Its super loud and annoying in the mornings.
They’re loud in Chapin. Our chickens are hammering them.
Quiet here in Camden. I was in Catawba all week and they were there for sure.
Loud in the hole on murray. People been calling the sheriff complaining about it. All I can do it laugh. I bet they ain't from around here.

Mid 90’s a buddy and myself were fishing in Abbeville county. Look up and there was dude in a jon boat with a fly rod hooked into something that was dragging him all over the place. Eased over to see if he needed any assistance. Nope. He was catching the bell outta carp using cicadas.
Last brood this worked on about everything swimming

"The real reason fish jump - they don't have a middle finger!"
Nice!
You can hear them in the house here in McConnells. Been having to exit the woods by 8-8:30 in the mornings. They’re so loud you can’t hear a turkey gobble if you wanted to

Hickory Tavern area is a hot spot right now. They were on fire yesterday morning.
Pacolet/western Cherokee county is very loud with em
If it aint got 8 toes & a green head,it aint a duck.
I can hear em from inside the house for the past 3 weeks in prosperity. They swarming in the yard and tree tops. Watched the crows eat the ones on the ground today after it rained.
I read an article the other day about Newberry Co 911 getting calls because residents thought the loud noise was sirens.

Nada in northwest Anderson County.
They’re terrible at my house. They have been out about 3.5 weeks now. First day I heard them thought it was a neighbor's alarm system. No neighbors within couple hundred yards. So was listening trying to course the direction. So I got in truck and headed towards road. Stopped to listen again. Then I fought it was coming from a different direction back towards my house. So I gave up on whose alarm was going off. Got to looking on line and saw that they were starting to hatch. So many here they’re filling half my skimmer basket up every day or two falling into my pool. TVs volume stays high to drowned the sound out of them in the house. Get away from tv and you hear them no problem in the house.
So can I expect to see the same in Kershaw county soon, or is it more isolated? What about TN? MD? I know nothing about cicadas other than it seemed like a yearly thing growing up and collecting their shells.
