what's there to argue about?
seems like this would check a lot of boxes, right?
or am I missing something again?

Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
I think it’s a good compromise on a lot of opinions. Hopefully the end result is beneficial for hunters and the bird.

So once again let's don't listen to the people who are actually educated in this and whom we paid to do a study on. I love hunting in cooler weather but just damn. But, it's not like I expected any better from our elected officials. Don't know why I'm surprised or aggravated.

What’s the definition of a Jake? Beard length? Spurs?
If beard, what if it’s a mature gobbler with beard rot or you shoot of the beard.
"Beard less than 6 inches long AND tail fan that is not fully developed" is how jake is defined in the committee amendment.
If you can’t tell a Jake from a mature (2yrs or older) when they’re in gun range, you need to find another hobby.
I feel like the kids should be allowed 1 jake in their 2 bird limit, if I have to find something to argue about. I don’t like the 1 bird in the first ten days thing either personally, but…

Windows Down!
It happens on occasion. As of right now on the app it says 9,471 turkeys have been killed this year. 549 have been jakes. If we are to the point where 549 birds are making an impact on our population we have much larger issues.
I think it unnecessarily complicates the turkey regulations. And who am I to tell someone they can’t shoot a Jake when it’s not going to impact a population. Several years ago I went to the Westervelt turkey school and sat with Tom Kelly, Eddie Salter and an 80 year old guide named Junior. As they sat and ate breakfast they lamented the days when they would shoot a Jake and be damn proud of it simply because it was a turkey. It changed my thinking a lot listening to those guys. They said at the time the earlier days were the bad old days of turkeys and we were currently in the golden age(this was a 13 years ago) and that it would cycle back down to somewhere in between. Boy were they ever right.
It’s disappointing they did not listen to biologists on pushing the season back so the birds can breed before being hunted. Other states have done this and been successful.
Not shooting jakes is a distraction that can be called a compromise from what needed to be done.

You could tell SC legislators that another state had the cure for cancer and they'd legislate leeches. SC is gonna SC regardless of data.Originally Posted by Carlisle;3159202[B
So who are these senators that made these changes?
