    well, see, I'm a numbers guy. I went with the most statistically possible answer.
    --it was in SC
    --it was on a wooden blind floor
    --there was pinestraw
    --and released ducks rarely get old.
    all those led me to guess released over old. certainly not both.

    Its not a longshot. I wonder what others say???

    Its a cousin of the mottled duck only in the sense that its a cousin of every duck in the mallard complex.
