Ear placement, stalk strength, etc what's your number one trait? What number or brand do you plan to plant?

I just dump it out of the 50lb bag. Whatever is on sale.
I'm no corn expert, but it seems like a preferred corn variety might depend on the location and impoundment specifics.

lots of aflatoxins is key and Adding moisture is the best way to achieve hi levels. The Best part of a flooded corn pond is you don’t even need a shell to kill limits on limits of ducks and it Works on turkeys too!

Shell corn for me. I usually plant about October. I replant every week or so then give up on it growing by March. Then I will try again the next year.
we use deer feeders, near the water's edge

Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
Bog actually been in pinewood 58 years and have planted corn over 30 years, but with the different companies and hybrids available i was wondering if anyone stumbled across specific corn that they would share.

Call Larry.
Whatever he plants, I'd get that.

piggybacking...
corn planting dates and location?
interested in hearing thoughts on planting dates and why.
we tend to plant "late" where I have hogs. IMO, less time to try to protect corn before flooding.
i'd say late march for most areas in midlands. we plant as late as june with hog problems.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
Just finished building my pond. Planting around 4/1. No hog issues, just deer. Clarendon county. This will be my first time growing corn.
good stuff. good luck!
