School me on waders

Going out to Arkansas late January and need a new pair of waders. Mine are Cabelas neoprene and 14 years old. Never had breathables. I fight to keep my feet warm but have kinda figured that out over the years. My question is insulated or uninsulated? What brands to look for. Not spending $1,000 when this is the first time i have hunted ducks in 12 years. Already looked at Gator and they seem sold out everywhere i looked. Any help is appreciated.

Frogg toggs are good, rogers waders are made by frogg togg and have been very very good to me. I average 3-4 years from my Roger’s. I’d stay away from Avery and banded as they have a ton of issues with leaks even straight out the box.

I like breathables and have had good luck with Rogers. Layer underneath to accomodate the weather. I've worn shorts and I've worn several layers. Order the next size up for your boots and wear thick socks.

I bought Rogers breathables, my son bought Rogers breathables around $200 with zipout liner. All waders will leak at some point, I don't care if they cost $100 or $1200.

What they said, Rogers. I frequent Final Flight Outfitters in western Tennessee and they sell all of the major brands. One of their managers ranked the breathable waders under $500 for us based on features and durability a couple of years ago.
1. Frogg Toggs (Rogers are the same)
2. Lacrosse
3. Drake
4. Avery
5. Banded (they have piles of returns that leaked right out of the box)

Think of it this way...waders are disposable. A broken and submerged oak limb don't care where you got your waders or how much you spent.

Thick fleece is the best liner even in warmer weather because it keeps condensation to a minimum.

I like neoprene cabelas. I’ve been through the breathable phase and don’t like them. They will drown you if you step off a ledge into deep water. Neoprene floats you

Breathables as recommended above. I'll never go back to neoprene unless I was hunting in a blind in Alaska, etc.

Yes, count on a leak of some sort, so keep a small supply of good duct tape and a tube of this stuff in your bag. This adhesive stays flexible, unlike 'Shoo Goo', dries fairly quickly, and is a lot cheaper than Aqua Seal.

And don't forget to always wear a wader belt. It will keep you drier, and from 'drowning/sinking', in any wader... which really doesn't happen anyway once your waders fill with water. It just makes it harder to swim or climb out of the water.

Same. I’m on my 3rd year with mine and I’m hang on waders. I couldn’t get a pair of Rogers/Frogtogs to last more than a year.
