Motorola Bluetooth Satellite Gizmo
Has anyone heard anything about this Motorola Bluetooth Satellite gizmo, or used one?
My wife asked me to pick up a Spot for when I’m out hunting or fishing and am wondering if this might be another viable option. Haven’t studied much about it yet, though.

Havent heard of it. Will be curious to see if anyone has experience with it. I have considered the Garmin with in reach https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/62397...02088-01#specs. But haven’t pulled the trigger. Garmin isn’t cheap but has a good bit of functionality depending on what you are doing:
I do have a PLB for sos only but when offshore have EPIRBS as well. Depending on the boat sat phones also.

I assume it's the same tech as a garmin inreach without the GPS function. No price listed tells me they need you click some stuff to get in their system for a barrage of emails etc.
If she's wanting it for when you hunt and fish, get a garmin inreach so at least it won't like like she's tracking you like a child in a campground.
ETA, the inreach has a chicken switch to call in the Cav should you get in a pinch.

I probably should puck up a PLB, but never go offshore so haven’t considered an EPIRBS. Most of the fishing I do is fly fishing or bass fishing near shores, and hunting nearby private land, so other than the usual life jackets/vests, and cell coverage, I haven’t considered much else. I’m not even sure why she mentioned it other than maybe she read a horror story about a missing hunter, or is real serious about me living longer than her.
Glenn, that is a funny thought, but I know she’s not interested in tracking me unless I’m more than a few hours past my due home time and she doesn’t want to warm up my supper.

I have the garmin w/ inreach...works like a champ when I'm out of cell service for communication, directions and the whole nine yards. I opt'd for the montana so I can also use the map features for waterways and lakes and stuff...again, works good. A little small for that but works...it also makes it a little big for the other uses. All in all, I like it.
