    Default Puppy Food

I did some searching on here and it seems Purina Pro Plan is the way to go. Is that still the case? I have an 8 month Springer and he's currently on Pedigree Puppy. The gas is unreal lately, so I want to switch him to a higher quality food.

Any others that I should check out besides the PPP?

X2 Victor produces all age formulas so you don’t have to switch

You're about to get 100 replies with 100 different suggestions all based on anecdotal data.

Pro Plan is a good food. Decent price point and is currently what I'm feeding our two new ones.

It helps that we ditched Hill's about two years ago and I carry Purina Rx foods in the office so I can just have my puppy food dropped at my office.

Pro Plan Performance 30/20. I've tried other foods, but always come back to PP.

We have a 7 month old that's been eating Purina Pro Plan Sport All Life Stages 30/20 Performance Formula. Seems to be very good food and he's been on it since we got him.

Don't get the white bag labeled "Dog Food" at TSC even if they say " get the cheapest dog food you can find"

Dog wouldn't eat it so we put it out in the hog trap. Come to find out the hogs wouldn't even eat it.

I feed Victor to my two labs and have been happy with it.

Any particular reason for ditching Hills?

I would get a second opinion on that high of protein/fat levels.

You aren't feeding walker hounds which run 8 hours a day,....twice a week.

More to do with customer service and nothing to do with quality. Hill's seems to forget who helped get them where they are. I've seen clinics, large and small, sell and prescribe their foods for decades. But unless you're buying tractor trailer loads at a time they don't feel you are worth the effort. So we started looking and Purina won our account. May not mean a ton to their bottom line but they take great care of us and our clients.
