Ran an 8 hour ultra last weekend just north of Jamestown in the National Forest. This is a local event started by a fellow runner from the lowcountry. Retreat Repeat is a 1.65 mile loop, mostly consisting of dirt road, field and a couple short sections of single-track trail. I've gotten to 50k the last 2 years but had back issues last year so had to quit early. I've been seeing a chiropractor and luckily my back is feeling much better now. My goal was to hit 50 miles and try to win if possible. I did both. Luckily my buddy with the course record (52.7) wasn't running it this year. I lapped 2nd place later in the race so I knew I didn't have to push hard for the win. I stopped at lap 31 with a running time of 7hrs 43mins. Average pace with bathroom breaks and water refills 9:03. 51.15 miles, this was my longest continuous run to date.
