2019 is split year for the Silverado. The “new” body style has the L84 engine. L84 is dynamic fuel management and not active fuel management. The difference is active fuel management kills 4 cyls (2 cyls per side) and the dynamic kills any of the 8 cyls one at a time or up to 4 but all 8 cyls have “special” lifters instead of 2 cyls per side having “special” lifters.
Now rumor has it dynamic fuel injection is perfected active fuel management.
We have a 2020 in with 67k miles. Complaint is misfire and tapping noise. Local GM dealer ship which he purchased the truck told him he needs all lifters and possibly a camshaft. They can pull the head and inspect or replace engine at 18k price tag.
Waiting on approval as he’s a member on here but the plan is to pull passenger side head and see what’s going on with cyl 6.
I’ll keep everyone updated. This will be our first dynamic fuel injection tear down. Ironically companies already have full mechanical deletes for this engine. LS style lifters and solid lift cam and tuning to cut off dynamic fuel injection.
