Somebody had a switchback in the tp not too long ago.
2th - I have a Mathews Halon 6 I am getting ready to sell - would be complete setup with sight, stabilizer, quiver. It has been in my closet for a couple years. I have done a decent job of keeping the strings waxed but they definitely need to be checked/replaced by an archery shop. Great bow, I just don't have the drive to bow hunt anymore if your guy would be interested.
Formerly DM88
Archery talk for sure. I buy stuff all the time on there.

How old does a bow need to be before you "need" to replace it? I have a 2008 Bowtech that shoots fine and kills stuff just fine. Are the new bows that more quiet?
some people change bows like I change underwear...
or HS changes putters.
They are looking for the next great thing.
I shoot the same bow my wife gave me 23 years ago.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
If he knows nothing about a bow or which brand feels good to shoot to him then I would take him to a bow shop. They can help him figure out his draw length and he can try several to see which draw cycle feels the bat. He likely won’t get it all right the first setup but will be better than going by which looks the coolest on archerytalk.
For the ducks
Buy local. That way you can inspect/shoot the bow before handing over cash. I just had a buddy call about a bow he got on AT - he said it squeaks loudly when he draws back. Without seeing it I can all but guarantee someone left it in a hot car pretty often and it either needs limb pockets greased or new cam bearings. Both options require a press and breakdown.
Things to look for other than it shooting good:
Rotating mods for draw length. A lot of older bows are cam specific DL. And it’s just getting hard to find cams
String in good shape - it’s a $100-200 deal to replace strings now
I’d buy here or at a bow shop. There is a lot to it if they are just starting out. And proper fitment goes a long way.
Imagine making this post on the phone and/or computer you had in '08. If you don't want a new bow I suggest not shooting one even for funsies. It's night and day difference.
I shoot an old bow too. I WANT a new one but don't NEED a new one. Usually you stop being able to get parts is when you are forced to buy new'ish.
But if he can wait till after the season there will be a flood of 1-3 year old bows that will hit the market, same with campers, when the new covid hunters start ditching them for crossbows, guns or golf clubs.
Find a good used Mathews Z7 Extreme.
I'm still with my old platinum, put a cool looking shaft in though. I haven't used the old te in a while.. both are old, but cool
Online reviews, and make sure the strings are good, and the wobble biscuits

Glenn's post is worth reading twice.
The Halon Dubs' is willing to sell would make a superior starter bow to the one most of us first piddled with.
ass kisser.
he didnt say shit other than he's too stingy to buy a new bow.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
