I spray seven spray right before they start blooming. Noticed several flying around yesterday while picking.
I went out and squished some of the eggs yesterday evening. I've got seven dust all over them but I saw a few flying around this morning when I was watering. Those things will kill a squash plant in no time.
Eight spray
i'm gonna say 9 spray just in case there is one.
if there isn't, i call dibs.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
My neighbor told me to put hardwood ashes in The dirt when you plant your squash. I've done it in years past, but I think I was always a day or two late. I burned a bunch of limbs in the garden spot this year then plowed the ashes in and planted the squash in that dirt. So far so good. I know the sevin dust works, but the key is to dust it on the under side of the leaves, as that's where they lay their eggs, but my plants grow so fast I have a hard time keeping up with it- well, that and I'm lazy as all hell.

"Mother Nature and Father Time- still undefeated."
About the time of first bloom I use a hypodermic needle and inject Bt into stalk about where they begin to fork. Have to do it every few days as Bt does not have a very long active period. A hassle but it does work.
Sevin dust on stalk.
That's what I do and it works

I am talking about vine borers
Bt is not a poison. It is a bacteria that does not act as a poison per se but causes caterpillars to stop eating - as it turns out that is all you need.
