That is exactly how long it took me to break the ice this year. I had not planned on hunting this morning. Went and scouted a buddy’s farm while he was at work for us to hunt Friday. No dice. I’m on my way home, and another buddy calls to tell me he has 4 longbeards in a field and they won’t budge. He tried to sneak around to them, but now they were back at his decoys and he had no way of getting back in range without getting busted. I hauled tail over there, and slipped in from the other direction. Had to shed my vest and army crawl the last 125 yards. Finally got a bead on the biggest one, and cut him a flip. 1.25” spurs, 10.5” beard, didn’t weigh him. He’s a dandy, and it made an awesome hunt getting to hear 4 mature birds gobble a few hundred times. Heck of a morning with a heck of a friend.
