What were they feeding on? Seem to be preferring whole kernel corn down here at the moment.

I plowed a strip for them today in the snow to keep them happy. They were on it before my 2nd pass.

Looks like snow this morning with this frost and the birds are absolutely loaded in the field.

It has been on fire along the coast.

If I'm cooking for several people, at the cabin, or just quick.. I like whole picked or breasted thrown in a bag with a good amount of maple syrup.. then add in some garlic, salt, pepper, fresh thyme, and some olive oil. Then grilled.

Whole picked with maple and cayenne is cool too.

The birds on the left are whole picked, right bag is breasted.. I've been thinking of different things. I kinda want to do maybe like wonton or maybe even ravioli with the breasted.. or I might just cut them off, sear them and throw them into something. The whole picked I'm kinda of thinking about deep frying them. It's been years since I've done that

And cool, there were larger fun droves today in that wind.. these birds don't have a lot of quit which makes winter doves so much fun to me

People that don't shoot late season doves are missing out on a lot of fun. We have members that show up for the first 2-3 shoots and then you never see them again.

Late season doves are usually a waste of time. Here one day gone the next. I'd find other things to put my faith in.
