Wayne, not Williams. My bad.
Time to talk with the blackbirds (grackles) about first frost. Keep an eye peeled for the first large flocks of blackbirds in your area and note the date on your calendar. Count forward six weeks and mark that as the date of first frost. Don't thank me. Thank the blackbirds!

Last Saturday here
Thanks for the heads up ABB!
Saw a large group yesterday off maudlin rd in Greenville. Thought of this thread and frost
Go Tigers!!!
Saw a big group Saturday in Florence County. Where does that put us for first frost?
Oct 30?
The average first frost is Halloween so the math works.
No blackbirds yet, but I did see 2 eagles yesterday, and you can see your breath outside this morning...
jevans - If you saw your flock on 9/18/2021, that would put first frost on 10/30/2021.
I have yet to see even a small gathering of blackbirds, much less any big flocks. But I'll keep looking.....and post up when I see something.

Still haven't seen the birds myself. But I just got a report from a family member that he observed large flocks of blackbirds near our farm yesterday (September 25th). So I'm marking the calendar for first frost on November 6th.

Huge flocks crossing 378 it’s afternoon
Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him
He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right
They don't put Championship rings on smooth hands
yep. they the only bird in my dove field for the last ten days....
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
Saw big groups of them Saturday morning. Bigger groups than last Saturday. I’m just gonna go with sometime during the first week of November
Yesterday (9/27) I finally saw a large flock at the farm. So I'm settling on first frost November 6th, 7th or 8th.
