If they don’t know 6 figures is over $100k then I don’t know what to say.

Please expound on what is incorrect. You think someone making say $60k can afford a $45k truck?

Basic cash flow analysis and common sense. Sure you can “afford” to buy a $50k truck when you make less than $100k when you finance it for 6 or 7 years, but that don’t make it smart

The used market is brutal for a kid. People wanting way too much for Chevys with almost 200k miles & toyotas are crazy as well. Missed a deal on f-250 with a 7.3 cause I’m out of town, but truck buying sucks right now

Throughout the late 90's and the 2000's, inflation began to spin out of control in Zimbabwe, causing the country to issue larger and larger bank notes, culminating the trillion dollar notes minted in 2008. According to the Cato Journal, inflation reached an estimated peak of 6.5 sextillion percent in mid-November 2008, representing a complete and utter collapse of the Zimbabwe Dollar. Zimbabwe officially abandoned their currency in early 2009 and to date, does not have an official currency. However, in 2008, millions of ten, fifty and one hundred trillion dollars notes were printed. Though these notes have no currency value today, they do remain collectible and have been able to maintain higher prices than when originally minted in 2008.

We just traded my '17 Colorado z71 with 167k miles, a dent in the bumper, needing tires, leaking valve cover gasket, and torn seat for $15,000. It's insane.

    Hyper-inflation.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Simple supply and demand. This is how it works.

If people slowed down their buying of them the prices would go down. See also, ammo.

I replaced my 17 tundra with a f250. I searched what my model/miles/condition was going for on cars.com. I listed it for that with no messages for 3 weeks then on the same Tuesday, I had 3 car dealerships offer me asking no questions for it.

Just like other industries, the car market is now seeing the effects of the supply chain disruption due to COVID19. Computer chip shortage is playing a large part too. The demand for used cars will continue to go up.
