I said it a few years ago when streaming services came out that they'd end up being what cable is. Every price increase gets them closer. I still don't understand why they won't offer some sort of a la carte deal. The content providers must not be willing to play ball. I'd much rather pay $50 for the 10 channels I want vs. $65 for 75 channels (or however many they have now).
Welcome to the world of a cable company. Thankfully we're don't care since we don't measure our money on cable TV. Our cash cows are wireline nternet service and business phone lines. Margins on cable are thin. Always have been.
