    What is it about banding tame ducks that makes it any better than just releasing tame ducks?

    A tame duck is a tame duck!

    It is however illegal in every sense to release tame or any kind of pen reared duck without atleast clipping a dew claw.

    If I'm not mistaken it is now illegal to band release birds.
    (Not 100% on that but do remember something to the effect that came up recently)
