Very Cool. Was fishing around Mclellanville early Feb. a few years back and rounded a bend and almost took a Old Squaw to the face. He passed right by us flying at eye level about 5 feet from the boat. Gorgeous birds. The Harlequin and Old Squaw have places reserved at my house. Will take trips to target them one day.
Saw several old squaw at Pawleys last weekend.
That harlequin is a true Eleanor.

Yeah, rules or not, I really hope that little duck was snuck up on and whacked stone dead with the first shot, and is now at a taxidermist friend’s house waiting to be mounted.
I’d be highly disappointed otherwise.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
An east coast Harley would be a real treat.
I wonder what the fine/charge is? Out of season waterfowl?
Probably huge fine. WA state is the only lower 48 where you can kill 1 duck PER SEASON.

There are several types of duck hunters...
One abides by every law set upon him, without his input, by men he’s never met.

Another, has a harlequin from SC mounted over his fireplace, a great story, and memory as a carolina duck hunter.

Here’s a Berkeley County harli! LOL. I agree in that they are beautiful but they are a nasty smelling little bird. They do live on the East coast but rarely make it this far south. They get a fair number of them up on the North East coast from Maine to Massachusetts.
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL
Thanks RK. Goal set. My little sis is married to a coastie and they just got stationed to Portland for 4 years. Was up there last week and could have whacked the hell out of black ducks in the grocery store parking lot. It makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with SC.
Either way we will be looking for a sea duck...

According to eBird range map there have been several spotted over on the other side
When in doubt, shoot him again!
Work like it's all up to me, but pray, like it's all up to him!
Dude probably means Portland Maine.

I saw a harlequin drake on my trip to WA in September. They are stunning animals.
Hunting outside the box
If I saw one here, I'd kill it.. take a picture and eat it.
Headed north myself next weekend to chase eiders and black ducks! It may be the only duck killing I do this year!
