How do you dispose of them? I've never had to think about it before but found a few a while back in the bed of my SxS.
TIA

Campfire.

I've burned shotgun shells before. Without being contained in the chamber of a shotgun they don't do much.
I usually just toss them in the trash.
Take steel wool and rub rust off until they are smooth. Put in gun and shoot stuff with.

Thanks all
Clean the oxidation with steel wool or sandpaper, brass doesn't rust, clean it good and shoot it.
They still fire just fine
You've got one life. Blaze on!
You don't know what you are talking about. It's not brass. It's very thinly plated steel. That's why hulls are magnetic...and why the "brass" rusts.
Oil near primers is always a bad idea. Don't oil your shells.
.22 cartridges in a fire will spit out the brass, not the bullets. And they won't do any more damage than a firecracker.
I like my guns enough that I don't feed them ruined ammo.
I have a case or two of 20 gauge shells that got wet in a beach flood event that I've been scared to dispose of. I remember well a supposedly news-worthy incident in which the trash recycling workers got triggered when some old shells ended up in the trash stream they were sorting. They treated it like a bomb scare.
I still have them and they are free to anyone who wants to clean them up and shoot them or dissect them for the shot.
Give em to Chuck
If you want to do the safe thing, take a sharp knife and cut the plastic around the wad base. Drop the shot in a metal recycling bin and sprinkle the gun powder in your yard or flower bed right before a rain as fertilizer.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!
