Picked up a few “salvage” boats after Katrina, was a complete pain in the ass to get clean paperwork. Not really answering your question but I would be leery unless it’s something you just can’t live without.
by saying that I assume you had to file for lost title and go through those steps with DNR?

Yes. Doing so with nothing more than an out of state bill of sale proved difficult. Also ran into issues where boats were declared full losses for insurance purposes and had absolutely nothing wrong with them- didn’t happen to me personally but also saw stolen boats with bogus salvage/ lost titles that were sold cheap and tried to quickly re-title out of state.
My only advice is just know what you are buying and who is selling it.
But with the above being said I was able to pick up a GatorTrax for less than $1000 and a Maverick skiff for $2500!!
Can you post some links to these auctions?
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

There’s some folks in Charleston that broker “insurance” salvaged boats. I’ll see if I can track them down.
That would be great if you are able to please let me know how to get I touch with them
