He also punched one of the guys after boarding the boat. Hunted there last weekend and the guides were talking about it. Said he was a Nut and worked out like a fiend all the time. He is lucky he didn't get ventilated though. Dumbass.

I didn’t read the article...Is this the incedent where the charged party is from a prominent family that owns one of the big marinas in OBX? If so this ones going to be interesting to watch unfold.
You are correct Elcid and one of the guys in the boat that was run into is kin to Gov Roy Cooper. Should be interesting
I think there was a hearing today. I'm interested to see the results but can't find any.
According to refuge forums: Case has been continued until April 4th.
I done told y'all that there are some straight up crazy bastards in Manns Harbor or use to be.
30 years ago "back in the day"
Hyde County is and probably still is a desolated rural swampy county with many remote airstrips and lots of great bear hunting. You could and probably still can drive 50 miles straight without seeing a building. There use to be a huge super farm owned by the man who owns McLean Trucking Company and a naval bombing range out there too.
The community sits at the base of the bridge that crosses the Croatan Sound, connecting Roanoke Island (Dare County) and there use to be nothing there but a general store,
a commercial fish house (buying house), a diner, and about a dozen homes. If you lived there you were a crabber or usually up to no good.
All the dope that came in Hatteras and Oregon Inlet in the 70s and 80s flowed thru Manns Harbor and Wanchese which is right around the corner sorta.
Manns Harbor is also known to produce some of the best Chesapeake Retrievers on the planet.
Once you leave Manteo and get out past Manns Harbor, you could disappear back in the day. A lot of folks over there had the "crazy eyes"

So they had shotguns but they didn’t kill the guy?

Kill him? For screaming and bumping a boat?
What happened to good ole fashion ass whoopins and everybody goes home alive?
Mercy.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
Got a good buddy from Hyde county. That area is one of the most remote areas I’ve seen to date. Ain’t nothing to do out there but hunt or be crazy and do drugs,,, or both apparently

You described it correctly from what I remember when we hunted out of Englehard, NC. I couldn't believe there was that much country East of 95 and the last couple hours you'll see an occasional abandoned plantation looking home and that's about it. Desolate is a good description.

Tons and tons and more tons of weed came thru that place via shrimp boats back in the day. Local sheriff deputies over saw the off loads from the fish house to the tractor
trailers and then escorted the 18 wheelers to the county line, a few low ranking coast guard from Oregon Inlet were getting there cut too. Rumor is that they were the easiest to buy. Any strangers stood out like a sore thumb and no one ratted anyone out because they all were brothers, uncles, cousins, etc.
Englehard to Belhaven got in on the action too Those dirt air strips saw their share of planes coming and going too
I passed by that diner one night about 3am (when it was closed) in the dead of winter one night and there were no less than 7 lincol$ Continental's parked around back
all with NY and NJ tags on them. Was some kind of meeting gong on. I asked my buddy Sonny who owned it about it the next day and he smiled and said I was mistaken.
