What is a decent model red dot sight to put on a rimfire pistol?
Vortex Venom, Burris Fast Fire 3, or Trijicon RMR.
Yep or that eotech one buttersalt was selling on here
I'd go with the Vortex Venom for a rimfire. Have one on my .22 and it's great. It appears to be the smallest of the choices, probably the lowest cost unless you get the FFIII on a package deal, but still has a decent size screen with both manual dot brightness control and auto on/off.

Vortex Venom. Top load battery and lifetime warranty. I’ve got them on a Glock 17 , S&W 657, and a Ruger Mark 3.
How does the FOV on the Venom compare to the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro? I have a Ruger Mark II Government Target Model I am considering putting a red dot on... and about to pull the trigger on a Glock 40 MOS for deer/hog hunting.

Delta Point FOV is a little bigger. Ive shot a few matches with the Venom on my Glock 17 and it’s been good so far. My buddy has a Delta Point on his M&P Pro. It’s a very nice optic, but I’m not sure it’s twice as nice.
buttersalt, lol. Yep I've still got the Eotech MRDS. Have had several and love them. Was thinking of putting on my MK2 target actually.
I have a Holosun mounted on a removable base on a SRH 44. It does well and retains zero taking it on and off. I am real tempted to get one for my Mk II if it can be mounted on it. The Holosun I have has a battery that will run it for something like 50,000 hours. I could not find it local so it was either Amazon or Midway. They are used a good bit at the range.
I also have one of those Burris Fast Fire IIIs I like
It's not enough to simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment as an antiquated inconvenience. Caring for the 2nd Amendment means fighting to restore long lost rights.
Mine all have C-More 8 MOA dots on them. I have 2 22/45s I compete in RFPO with for Steel Challenge. All my rifles have them too. Field of view is better and they have dot modules that can be replaced. Are you going to start competing or just playing around?

Thanks for the suggestions, decided not to pursue one right now.
I was thinking of putting the sight on a .17hmr pistol and trying to knock out a few squirrels with it.
For no more than I would actually use it, Those sights are more than I want to spend in order to make what would essentially be a novelty gun
This is a different story. I started shooting Rimfire with a Browning Buckmark Red Dot which is a copy of many others of the same style. I didn't trust a match fee with it but it never failed. I put it on my wifes 15/22 for plinking and it holds true. For what you want to do, I think you will be happy with it.
