I've done it once. I can't remember everything but at least olive oil, rosemary, salt and pepper for the rub. 225 until 115 internal temp then into the oven on broil until the outside chars. It turned out pretty good for me but I wish I would have used less smoke.

I've done it and it was fantastic.
I just coated the outside with a paste of kosher salt, pepper, and horseradish sauce. Cook to ten degrees less than desired and then let it rest in a cooler or something. Juices will flow when it is cut so be prepared for that.

I assume I should use a drip pan underneath it for au jus ???
Most recipies I have seen are pretty simple which include kosher salt, cracked pepper, horseradish and rosemary
What is expected cook time

Yes drip pan under. I believe it was 2 hours or so. I remember that it was done sooner than I was expecting and had my timing all off.
This was a test run on a new York strip that was on sale. But I used same rub and method.

What was cook time and temp
I just did one on the Egg for a Christmas party. 15.7 lb. Cooked at 250 for 4.5 hours pulled it at 125 wrapped it in foil for 30 minutes. Was great figure about 15min per pound.
you wont believe this but I bought one of those rotisserie oven thingys after watching
an infomercial, and that thing cooks the most perfect prime rib.
No bone.

I cook a 5 Rib Roast, 12-15#. Oven 500 Degrees for 15 Minutes, don't open door, drop temp to 350 for 12 minutes per pound. Remove wrap in Tinfoil till served. Perfect Med. Rare every time.
5.99 Mexican prime rib and 6.99 Australian or American at Bilo this week.
Low country redneck who moved north
Publix has choice for 6.99 tied.
Same at Bilo, I asked the differences.
Low country redneck who moved north
They break it down and price by country of origin now?
