His end of the year dog-drives were close to a dove shoot back in the day.
Damn if they didn't whack some deer in one day on those things.
Back in the day... the prison farm shoots Warden Thames used to put on over at Wateree prison. I went on several with my father back in the early 70s. They were well known for being well run and consistent.
I had a rare opportunity to go on a shoot there again in the mid- to late-90s. It was still a good shoot.
Good times. Killed my first dove there in about 1970 with a Daisy BB gun when it landed in the tree over my head. Then my first with a shotgun (Savage 22/410 o/u) later.

Mr. Mannings were always good-my son shot his first there w/ his Red Rider.

prob the ones you dont know about.
Nahh we have all hosted plenty of them...
It was better than Mexico has ever been up in Cherokee Springs back bout 15 years ago when me and my partner in the cattle business were doing it and still is.
If you could shoot at all, limit in 15 mins. or less. I am alot of things but a lier I am not. You got the resources within the law, you can have birds if that is all you eat and sleep.

sportin has some damn good ones every year hisself
one of the best if not the best I have ever been on was
with him last year as I watched my employees work like
hell at the mill on the other side of the field
If only I would have been a couple hundred yards closer
I could have made them move really fast
We used to go with Henry Niles out to Afford Elmors in Wysaki, and I always shot over five boxes with a 20 single shot. Good stuff every week. The only good shoot I've been on since this stupid baiting law was at Burel (?) Manning's by Heathwood hall, and I gurantee I could have killed a few with my recurve that day. I was shooting doves with doves hanging upside down on sunflowers right in front of me; I had a limit in less than 20 minutes, and I aint that good of a shot.
“I can’t wait ‘till I’m grown” is the stupidest @!#* I ever said!
I used to have a job that got me an invite to shoot opening day at Oakland Gun Club in Pineville.
It's was the closest I'll ever get to being spoiled - Great fellowship - Dinner started by a very Christian prayer - BBQ served by traditional folks on of the front porch of a traditional plantation house - endless and sweet iced tea with lemon. Without exception the bird shooting that followed was always equally fantastic.

I've gotten the limit at Burwell's walking to the stand. Turned around and walked back to the car without even making it there.
I've never hunted at a public fields on a regular basis but I can remeber 7 or 8 years ago not being able to keep the gun loaded at our place. When I was about 7 I can remember watching my dad shoot until he got tried of trying. Then laying down the gun and watching them land 15 yards from us, heck they would be landing while he was shooting.

You know thats rite you aren't talking the Belue property are you? We used to shoot in the "flatwoods" and you could melt a gun barrel over there. We also had some good shoots with Dick Hite.
all of em are good to me- I remember my younger days going and having the BEST dove shoots that were more like field slaughters- - most people didnt know how to count! But now that I am a tad older and with offspring I think like someone else said, the best one follows a prayer and a big meal with my son by my side- this past year I sat back and watched him have the time of HIS life- knowing that he would speak of this day in the future which makes me say that I wouldnt have traded that seat for any limit anywhere, thats my best one, until this years!

I guess I.ve known Dick about my whole life. My grandfather has made him alot of $ buying fertilizer. I would say one of the best shots we had was behind his store. Made alot of bird runs.LOL
