I guess we should turn the sun off as well. I mean, shit, we could cure global warming AND stop a radiation source at the same time, it's a win-win![]()
When I worked at the Naval Shipyard in radiation work, every fall, deer hunters and their family members would have trouble exiting a radiologically controlled area because the deer meat they ate has naturally occuring cesium 137. The "frisker" devices were sensitive enough to detect the radiation. Supposedly, deer get it from acorns.
well seeing as how my business is Corian countertops, i say hell yeha granite is bad for you. That radiation will make you sick, make your food taste funny, and most importantly, if you buy granite you aint buying from me which slows my business down.
been in the granite business for over 8 years and I am not glowing. If it causes radiation why do we use it for roads and buildings and schools???? exactly
Chuck, it does indeed EMIT radiation (and it's certainly NOT alone in that capacity) it's simply not a concern.
That might explain the people I saw walking around Elberton, GA.
OH NO! WE'RE ALL GONNA

Remember "Time, Distance and Shielding". If it is 0.2 mRem at the surface, it is probably non-detect at 6 ft. If you want to hear the CRM scream, just hold it up to a box of Potassium Chloride (AKA, No-Salt). It will scream, but the stuff is not bad for you. A banana has K40 which will show up in a Whole Body Counter, but bananas are good for you.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.
It's not the depleted uranium that kills ya.....

I'm just glad we spent our money on SileStone.
A Coleman latern mantel will make a frisker scream too. At my old job, someone taped one on the back of a newbie radiation worker before he went into a controlled area. On the way out, the radcon techs, who were clued in, made the noob strip his "contaminated" clothes and then sent him to the shower where he was abandoned until shift change. Some old phosphorescent watch dials were radioactive too.
How much will tritium night sights or a Luminox watch set one off?
"Only accurate rifles are interesting " - Col. Townsend Whelen
None, have both and have monitored them. Tritium is a high energy beta emitter, but the beta is stopped by the capsule. Tritium is what really supercharges the reaction in a weapon.
