I have mixed emotions on Constitutional Carry. My political leanings are towards a smaller government and I would call myself a Constitutional Libertarian. As such, I don't want any more government restrictions than absolutely necessary.
I certainly favor the right to carry as long as there is no undue government burden to exercise my 2nd Amendment rights but I hesitate to endorse a plan that would basically put a gun into every knucklehead's pocket that desires to carry without some type of mechanism to ensure they have a minimum level of proficiency and can pass a basic background check. I would also give a lot of weight to the opinions of professionals (LEO) that deal with criminals and gun issues on a daily basis. Under the current permitting process it is my understanding that most LEO's actually have a higher comfort level when dealing with a properly licensed permit holder verses an unlicensed person and as a result, I feel certain under the current permitting process I would most certainly be treated in a more professional manner due to the fact that I have a CWP. Without a CWP, I would venture to guess that LEO doesn't know me from Adam and as a result even the most innocuous interaction with LEO while carrying could lead to a heightened stress environment for both of us.
When I took the course for my CWP it was a slight inconvenience to sit all day for the course but it was something I was willing to endure to reach my end goal. I didn't find the cost of obtaining the CWP overly burdensome either. To sum it up, I endorse some type of permitting process to allow citizens to carry while in the "public square"

I always like to look at things from another perspective.
Here's my take:
-I don't give a shit if Hill owns a gun, thinks like I do about the outdoors, etc.
-I don't give a shit what parliamentary procedure has always been used to move legislation through a convoluted and corrupt state house in Cola-town.
-I don't give a shit what some pro-gun rep voted on this bill. The question was what did YOU do, DT...
-The way I see it, you blindly followed another man's lead. Your vote is your vote. You gave your boyfriend another vote.
-The way I see Hill's actions shows that he was tired of the status quo and he wanted to call his cohorts to account. Respectable and commendable.
-The way I see your vote (DT) and the votes of other "conservatives" is this: cowards.
-The fact that this wasn't done YEARS ago baffles me.
-The way I see it, DT hasn't and won't change one bit. He deflects criticism with unfounded criticism of a man he knows nothing about. Sure, Hill looks and, seems to me, acts like a weirdo. I don't care. He made you band of douchebags look like a band of douchebags, didn't he?
-The way I see it, our state legislature hasn't changed in the least and won't for the foreseeable future.
Big T I agree ex LE are the worst at not wanting to pass pro gun stuff.
However I also realize how this game is played, and to think the CWP wouldn't go away as a direct cause an effect of this passing and to think is will not is some what naive.
It may not in name be removed, but as a simple matter of folks becoming lazy would it loose it's status as a prized possession an as such as people become lazy and lackadaisical it will become low hanging fruit easily picked by the anti crowd in short order. I would even predict by the end of the first 4 years of Trump.
If this thing passed.
I fought tooth an nail over the flag with DT, but whether we like it or not he is the one playing the game. If you don't like his style go run in your district and change Columbia. He is far more in tune generally speaking than most of the folks are in voting on matters. However Columbia is run in a certain manner and him all of a sudden pitching a fit will not change anything in that regard.
As a side note I will continue to fly the stars an bars around the corner from his house in protest of the flag being removed from the monument!

I want to be the only idiot in sumter with a gun. Please dont let the rest of these non driving idiots carry. I need the upper hand.

Even with a CWP they don't know you from Adam, and would be foolish to think otherwise. Some of you seem to think a CWP is like the secret squirrel card you can give to a cop to let him know you are one of the good guys. It's not.
That being said...screw open carry. I went to the boat show this weekend and two weird little fucks were walking around with tactical vests on and open carrying. There is something very peculiar about people doing that. Needless to say the cops had a lengthy conversation with them before escorting them off the property.
I'm not arguing that is some how makes you special in the eyes of LE.
I am arguing it does give you a immediate bypass around a NCIS check which is federal.
I am arguing it does allow you to carry in other states.
So yes, in that respect it is special.

Hill pitching fit did upset the apple cart. Without his vote few would have known a majority of SC House was opposed to constitutional carry. Notice DT's uncouth tirade against a fellow House member. It wasn't a poster here throwing jabs.
As a legal citizen of the US and SC protected by the Constitution I don't want to be infringed on. The CWP requirement does that. The CWP makes us safer I do not dispute that. But the safety is not worth the liberty surrender. I bunch of shit would make us safer and less free. Screw that, stay out of my life to be finger printed and buy permit to legal carry is crap.

I feel the same way. I'm certainly not a LEO and don't have many friends/family in that boat.
However, outliers should NEVER be the reason legislation is made/blocked. The fact that this legislation is needed absolutely floors me.
Weird folks are gonna weird, my man.
I, for one, will likely never "open carry". It doesn't mean that I shouldn't be able to should I choose to.
Times have changed and so has technology. "The People" could vote on issues with ease and eliminate the need for "Representatives". Then what the people really wanted could be done.
Unless Russia gets involved.
Anyone with mixed emotions on a constitutional right is a pussy. Sorry if you're a cop and t scares you. No one forced you or asked you to be a cop. Your CHOICE to do so shouldn't effect anyone's constitutional rights.
Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.
Quick question for those that don't like CWP requirements.
Do you support Voter ID laws? I'm betting most of you do and you should IMO.
Voting is a sacred, Constitutional right that needs to be protected from abuse and fraud. It is my belief that a Voter ID law would do much to protect the votes of law abiding citizens.
CWP requirements may put a burden upon each of us to exercise the right to carry in the public square but same as Voter ID laws, it puts a minimal obstruction in front of ne'er do wells that would otherwise abuse the system.
You're comparing apples to oranges.
A voter id law is to protect the US citizen's right to vote, and to not allow a non-US citizen to vote and potentially negate the US citizen's vote. A CWP is taking away a US citizen's right, not protecting against an infringement of their rights.

The bill is a side note. DT gave us an inside look at how our govt operates. It's waaay more disturbing than TactiCool Tom & his tricked out .45.
