    Default Serious Sea Duck Question?

For all of you coastal boys I have a question. Topic of sea ducks came up at work today. Guys were talking about hunting the NC coast. Thinking to myself I know ive saw post of sea ducks killed on the SC coast but I have no experience in that area. Just curious to know what species of sea ducks are common in our area? Thanks.

There's no sea ducks in NC either. Keep going north.

Thanks! I'll have to try that. Got a batch soaking in sprite right now per a friends suggestion.

    For black and white-wing I don't have a clue what you're talking about, I really don't.

All I do is skin and filet the breast meat, hit with salt and black pepper and dry fry in a cast iron skillet. Four minutes each side and let them rest in the pan for 10 minutes. I've never had one taste fishy. Like with all wild game just don't over cook it. I've eaten all three scoters, at least one common eider and South Carolina old squaw. The only ones that tasted remotely fishy were the surf scoters. I think the black (or common) scoters eat mainly seaweed anyway.

Buy lots of ammo and keep shooting till they belly up. They are tough birds!
