Just wondering when y'all who hunt in the Greenwood, Laurens, Newberry, Union County area feel like the rut is in full swing? I know there are a lot of factors that play into it but what are your experiences?

Last week Oct first week Nov. I hate hunting the rut. Oct 1 to 31 is my favorite time.
I'm getting reports of chasing.
In SC, rut full swing?! That's kinda funny our herd is so messed up I think there isnt one particular rut. Does are getting bred from September until January. That's why you see such a spread in time of new fawns being born, from spring through summer.
So to answer your question yes, in some form or fashion or part of the rut is in full swing in the upstate.
Only way to tell is be in the woods.

If you don't know when the ruts happening, it ain't gonna affect your deer hunting anyways

how old is 60 pound yearling approximately, in months? I'm seeing lots of those right now
Thanks for the responses. I understand it is a broad question, just interested to see others experiences. A guy I was at Clemson with did a study on coastal plain deer fetuses to look at breeding times back in 2010-12, I wish there was something similar for the piedmont of SC.

fawn loses spots at 3-4 months. gestation period is 7
My buddy killed a good 7 point last night....wasn't chasing, but cruising. We smelt him about 10 yards out before we even reached him. Glands stunk something serious.
In my experience in the Greenwood area, the last week of October through the second week of November seems to be the peak. But, like many have said already, the rut around these parts seems to last for 3 months or more.
Warning: The Surgeon General has determined that turkey hunting is an addictive activity that will disrupt normal sleep patterns!
I see more rutting activity the first two weeks of October than any other time.
