Default Ruger no. 1 scope mount question

I have wanted a no. 1 for a long time. Finally scratched the itch. Planning on putting a Leupold vx3i 3.5-10x40 on it. I have read that the eye relief can be a problem with standard mounts. I have seen suggestions for Ruger extension rings or offset rings. I have no experience with either. Any no. 1 owners with experience with this? Thanks, CC

I used the Ruger "tall" mounts to fit the 54mm objective - ill send a pic if you'd like of my .300

Gotta find a balance between eye relief and being able to load.

I went with a Bushnell Elite 6500 due to the eye relief and I have been very satisfied

I have one made in 76 with a Leopold on it. Just a 40 mm. No issue with eye relief. It is fairly low down on the gun an loading is no issue.
