The Score: Indians-2 Moose-no score! Spike shot a 3yr old bull and Theron shot a cow, both on the first Saturday evening.(second year for both these guys). The rut seemed to have just gotten underway.Spike called his to within 50 ft of his stand! We're still power washing him down.Back to the rez we go and Andre leads us in getting hammered. We head off to camp monday. My Jimmy broke down with 15 or so miles to camp,(camp's about 30miles from main road.)ran comepletely outta electric.Had the booster pack so got going and got to camp.Changed the battery and alternator when we got back to Andre's rez and all's well.(ceptin 4x4,rearwiper/washer/radio & sumfin else).Scouting showed lots of activity in the area.Bulls were responsive to the call.Heat wave moved in along with mosquitos and blackflys, moose weren't so anxious to come out and play after that,no more shooting.I was calling to one bull for a couple of days but he had a real cow with him deep in a swamp and I reckon she smelled a bit better than me.Spike and the boss man listened to bulls fighting just beyond seeing range in the bush.Boss man been hunting moose 40 years and that's the first time he's heard that.Closest to wildlife I got was a fox.I was calling for Andre and it got chilling the first saturday eve.I stood up to put on my coat and scared the shit outta said fox,he dropped his rabbit about 6 feet from me and turned tail.(hope he got back for it)Got a few pics that I'll post up.(or someone will)The cow was a good sized one about 1300 pounds the young bull a bit smaller. Our moose (Eastern Woodland Moose) aren't as big as Ring Kings Alaska/Yukon Moose, they are the big guys of the family.Still a lot of grunting for 6 guys to put in the back of a pickup truck Can't wait for next September.Lots of northern Canada Geese about up there and saw a few Mallards.First time I saw someone wearing shorts and T shirt in camp way too warm and more coming looks like.A very good 1100 mile round trip

Hell, if ours were smaller I'd consider putting in for a tag next year. Since they're not I don't plan on chasing them around! Unless of course I go with somebody that has an airboat with winch and davit so that it can be loaded and hauled out without all the fuss. That just ain't worth it to me!!
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL

We leave the tongue with some elders every year(a delicacy as is moose nose) Lord knows I'm not adverse to a little tongue as well!(not from the elders)Tired is an understatement. No Andres were harmed during the making of this hunt.
