Has anybody seen the eight swans in the rice fields on the cooper I am wondering if they were tamies and released or they just came here, is that rare because I have never seen them around here before. They are in Mulberry rice field mostly and sometimes in Pimlico rice field. I will try to get some pics.

Not that rare. I usually see a couple every year in the midlands.

If their wings arch up over their backs, they are mute swans, escaped or feral stock. If their wings lay flat and smooth against their backs, they are wild whistling swans.

Several thousand feral mute swans have become a major problem in the Chesapeake, ruining large areas of aquatic vegatation. The antis pitch a fit whenever the biologists suggest shooting them, and the sniveling Maryland authorities always relent.
