I signed it. SWD's and all release operations should be illegal.

I don't know how they would enforce it since its rare that you see a GW out there. I would be all for a shell limit of 15 on all WMAs.

The problem is people don't know when to turn them off. Cloudy days are not meant for spinning wings IMO but If you choose to use them need to tone down the white with paint or mud. Then again this is just my opinion and it works well for me.

Signed it from the ar forum. Hope it helps. SWD's have ruined timber hunting. It will take 3 years to be again what it once was.

Biggest groups I ever pulled through the trees were during the ban years. Didn't hunt Arkansas before robo came out. Coincidence, maybe. Who knows.

I'm guessing the problem is that its become a SWD contest. Who has the most kills the most. Prime example watch an echo video. They hunt public and most days will run 12-15 mojos. Others don't want to spend that kind of money or hassle with that many so its easier to do away with them and level the playing field for everyone.

The argument is that it enables folks to simply flip a switch and take pot shots at birds as they dip just low enough below the trees to check out the SWD. People argue it educates too many birds and prevents them from working properly.

There you have it. Just as it takes no skill to flip a switch on an electronic call it takes no skill to flip a switch on a SWD. IMO neither falls under "fair chase".

Where our fathers and grandfathers before us just used decoys, natural surroundings, knowledge of waterfowl and weather, and the skill of a call, we use mallard machines, robotic ducks, vortexes, and any other electronic device we can to give ourselves a one up on our game.

At what point is it an unfair advantage to the game we pursue?
Where do we draw the line?

With technology developing at such a rapid pace, giving us access to literally every square inch of waterfowl habitat via surface drive engines, and electronics cohersing birds that likely wouldn't have responded to an unskilled caller, at what point is it too much?

Some will say any regulations set on these types of things are an encroachment on our freedoms, some will claim that I and those that think like me are ridiculous to think that these things are causing harm, because if they were they would be stopped.
Some know they cause harm and simply don't care as long as they have tailgate photos and chest thumping sessions with like-minded folks about how awesome they are at killing ducks.

Will we draw the line at entire decoy spreads moving and flapping? Will
We stop at quacking robotic hens luring birds from way up?

Just some things to think about....
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.
