I've been looking at some boats and thinking about getting one before next season but I have seen a few of these jet drive motors. I don't know anything about these so I was kindof looking for some help. Are the any faster? What are their benefits and disadvantages? I've tried to find a little info on them but I haven't gotten any cold hard experiences. How do ya'll like them?

Normally slower and less power than prop motors hp per hp.
Great in rocks with a jack plate - useless in mud and weeds.
I always thought a website was a selling tool, not a product repair manual!

The usefulness of the jet is very dependent on where you plan to use it. On clear water with a hard bottom, it will go like an air boat so if the boat floats you're in business. It excels in rocky rivers IMO. In water with trash or a shallow mucky bottom, the intake will clog and you'll be stopped clearing it out. That's no fun in the cold. I've had a Yamaha 28 since the late 80's. Its a 40 horse head that the jet de-rates to 28. Also fuel economy is not very good. But like I said, it's got good and not good points.
