    Default finishing jap millet

Finally, after a couple of failures (flash floods, bad seed) have a stand of jap millet on 3 different ponds.

Two questions, when and with what should I fertilize it? I have a bag 16 25 12, would that be ok?

When shuold I fill them back up with water? I assume I want it back to full pool a week or so before Nov 17?

    Thanks

    You probably need lime.

Now. Get the "instant lime" $15 bag covers 8000sqft.

Sure it could use fertlizer as well.

Jap Millet can grow in water, just let it get 6" tall and do not submerge it while growing.

Here is the millet after week 1.

Hit it with fertilzer and lime, and this is about 10 days later.

First heads starting to show last week.

I planted a little too thick in some spots, and that's probably why it has a yellowish color in places.

Looking good, thanks for the advice. Will drain and do more next year. I staged seeding some so maybe it'll last a little while. Have started to ease water back in.
