We use boat anchors for both ends of the line when we hunt tidal waters. Better have overkill in these areas of you will have a friggin mess!

Lots of ideas here, http://doctarilonglines.com/. I'm going to modify my gang rig and will probably just buy the supplies and build it myself.

Having someone who can run a boat in 25kts wind and 3 kt opposing current is the most important thing about L/L's. The only time I ever cuss my main partner is at 5am in those conditions. All the while glad I have the easy job of getting them out without tangling. He definitely has the toughest job.
I use 3 lb collapsible anchors and Extension Cord Reels for lines. I use 150 feet of 5/16 for the main and two feet of 3/16 for drops with gang rig clips.

And, dont ever, ever, ever, ever have the bright idea to launch your long lines in shallow water, high winds, and a dumping tide by peeling out the tag end of your lines in the current without a weight.
Most godawful mess I have ever seen.

I got my heavy hauler system in the mail today. Looks idiot proof. Guess if I like it I'll build my own.
I use barbell weights on each end. 36" drops with the big clips spaced 4ft apart. It ain't rocket science. I took this straight from Sprig's book, and it works like a charm.
I did a search for Sprigdog's long line thread but did not find anything. I have 4 long lines but my paracord tangels easily. I want to see how he made his to prevent tangling but I couldn't find the thread.
Paracord is your first problem

500 lb tarred line.

Wallace Cordage Co. I believe is a good supplier. You want tarred cord, whatever you get. I've used the long line mainline that all the Mack's, Cabelas, etc sell. Not nearly as good and clips will slip on it.
If you can find it, Brownell line is the shit...
