    Default Preventive Gun Maintenance

With dove and duck season right around the corner, I'm starting to think about my equipment. This will be my m2's 6th year in the field. I hunt dry corn fields, salt water, out of state, swamps, etc. It's probably been dropped in all of the above at least once. I'm not experiencing any issues right now but don't want them to arise this season. Anything you guys look for when you clean the guns or somethings I need to check to insure the gun is good to go?

If it's anything like my M1 most definitely the recoil spring. Finally broke down and bought a sure cycle for it. If you've never removed and cleaned it, you will be shocked that your gun was still functioning when you do.

Magazine spring could always use some TLC.

One of the more overlooked items (from the 8 or 10 annual threads about the problem) is the failure to adequately use Choke Tube lube or grease...

Fail that and you will be added to the list of "my choke tube is stuck".... crowd.

Hah my choke tube is always lubed (take that how you wish). Good call on the recoil spring, I haven't looked at that in the last two years.

Carolina- I clean the magazine spring once a year.

How about the ejector? Whats the life on that for a shotgun with pretty heavy use?

I've never seen one break either, but I imagine they will eventually get worn down. Just didn't know if anyone had seen one break.
