Grooming and doing rescue, I haven't met a Maltese I liked yet. Yorkies are hit or miss. Anybody that is crossbreeding on purpose more than likely isn't dealing with "nice" lines to start with or they wouldn't be crossing them, and they're prob not caring what is going on with the health, but that's just my opinion
Do your research and look for a reputable breeder that's not crossing breeds, from the two in the mix above, you'll be better off going with a Yorkie. And small breeds NEVER need to go home before 9 weeks old MINIMUM...I've heard Dr. Causey fuss about 6 week old puppies being brought to him that wouldn't eat...some of them had been taken from the breeder at 5 weeks old. Yes, some are fine, but physically and mentally (both you and the dog), you're much better off letting the puppy stay longer (which a reputable breeder will insist anyway).
If she wants a cross breed, go to the shelters...they're full of them and they pay to have them fixed, too, most of the time.
