Default Late season weed control in the dove field question

We are pretty much dried in the corn and the first of the sunflowers are not long and with that the late season weeds are starting to come. I have moved the booms up as high on my sprayer as possible (roughly 6ft off the ground) and have drops for the spray tips to get the chemical back down in the understory. My question is should I look at some other chemicals for broad spectrum weed control aside from glyphosate? My primary weeds are sicklepod, sesbania, and grass. I found some small pigweed yesterday which is the first I have seen all year so I am very motivated to get a kill on it ASAP. Is there anything that has a residiual? We will not plant anything else in this field until next spring so say 6-7 for the rotation. Thanks

    keep it cheap.

    Glyphosate + 2,4-D + Atrazine

paraquat a little later for any escapes

Just kill it all if it has completely made and starting to dry out.

We will be doing the same in a week or 2

Southernduck- I just reread your question. Let me clarify my earlier post.

You're fine with a late atrazine app on ground where you know you'll have corn next year, but I would be a little hesitant on ground planned for flowers next year. It would probably degrade fine with warm temps and rain, but flowers are sensitive to it...so I'd be cautious.

Thanks Turf, I hit it with glyphosate + 2,4D this morning.

Buckshot I assume you are talking a tank mix of Firestorm and 2,4D, my question is wouldnt that be like a tank mix of Gromoxone and glyphosate in which the defoliant has done its work long before the plant even translocates the glyphosate to the roots and kills it. Basically isn't the 2,4D useless in the mix?
