    Default Yami electric start?

Can electric start be added on a 98 40HP? Or is the flywheel incompatible like on manual Mercs?

always thought it could be added to all of them. Call Mclean Marine and ask for little harvey and ask him

If you have a smooth flywheel, you'll just have to find one that has the teeth. Also, look to see if you have the mounting holes for the starter. Either front Port side or rear Starboard side of the motor.

if the 40 is like the 30, you will need a flywheel, stator, starter bracket, starter motor, and all wiring. on the 30, there are 3-4 different stator/flywheel combos that only work with that particular year/years. cant mix and match.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking D. Don't have the motor yet so don't know what flywheel it has. Was wondering in case I get it.

Good luck, I gave up years ago. I sold the Yami and bought a new Tothatsu 40 TLDI with ptt and E start. I love the Tohatsu. Yamaha shold have kept making the 40 2 stroke and added the e start and ptt on the short shaft model. I hope it comes back to bite the in the ass.
