I went out sunday a walked the club and saw some birds. At 3:00 PM i heard two gobbling. The disturbing thing was that I found a hen already nesting. This warm weather has them going to early.

You sure she wasn't just dusting?

I'm not saying this is the way you should do things but if you did spook her off the nest then you could go over to check for eggs. I wouldn't deliberately do this but if it happened ........

No the reason I think it was a nest is because she got up and flew in a circle and came right back to where she was. After she landed she just sat there and looked at me. I felt like with her coming right back that she was protecting something.

Could've definitly been a nest. Have seen poults on our property in the upstate 4/25 before. Turkeys have a 20 something day incubation period I think. So late Mar nesting is a reality in some areas. Phases in different areas different times/birds etc. Sort of like the rut.

A guy told me yesterday that earlier this week he saw a hen with more than a dozen poults near his house near Biedler Forest. I'm not sure whether to believe him or not. It has been a strange weather year.
