Finally decided to go chase some ducks with some buddies who flew in from SC and Indiana. Friday started slow as we were trying to figure them out and finished with 2 Found a spot off the interstate with a ton of birds Friday evening. Got a late start Saturday at 1030. It was 32 and dumping rain. Little man stayed strong and hunted every day from 3am till dark. We ended with 9. Woke up at 230 thinking the spot would be loaded with people. Arrived 2 hours before shooting time and had the place to ourselves. Seen thousands of mallards, gadwall and wigeon. Finished today with 13. Weather warmed up to 40 and the wind was howling. We hammered 3 mallards in the decoys and they started down river. Me and my Indiana buddy took a cold November swim in the North Platte, don’t recommend that at all. We ended with 7 species Mallard, Gadwall, Wigeon, ring neck, red breasted merganser, and green wing teal. I missed a stud golden eye feet down in the decoys. Made me sick. Weather should be getting good soon.
