What am I doing wrong

I've set 7 coyote traps on fresh sign. Yesterday one had a footprint in between the pan and the bait hole so I rebedded it a little closer.

Next trap had 3 or 4 prints all around the trap but none directly on the pan. Neither had the bait dug up.

Third trap was dug up and laying upside down without being tripped. Bait not dug up there either.

I'm sure there's some subtle little thing I'm doing wrong or not quite right.

These are in three separate areas.

Give me some ideas please.
