The full Agriculture committee of the House today passed House Bill 3750 as amended. The Cliff Notes version of this bill is to do away with the date specific doe tags and replace them with 2 free doe tags that can be used from September 15th-January 1st inclusive. You will still be able to purchase 4 additional doe tags to be used any day also. If the House passes this bill, it will then go to the Senate for consideration. This bill is on a very fast track and has a lot of supporters including the SCDNR, the Farm Bureau, and local QDMA people. If it passes both and is signed by the Governor it would go into effect for this upcoming season. Please call your local representatives and tell them you support this bill. It will do away with a lot of headaches.

While not a part of the bill, I have been told by some people in the know that the DNR is considering giving you an additional 2 free tags if you purchase the 4 additional tags. This would encourage people to buy the extra tags and generate revenue that would be lost from people content to just get 2 any day tags and not need anymore.
