I know the words don’t necessarily go together but anything I get will be an upgrade from what I have. On my .270 I’m still running a tasco that was on it when I got it for Christmas in 1996 or so. And my 7mm08 has the cheap scope that came on it from savage. Never really cared about it much until western hunts have started to become a reality. I would like to think that all shots would be 400 yards and under. I would love to stay in the $500 range if I could but could possibly go up to $1000 if I had to. What’s the word on SWFA? They seem to come up as a reliable budget scope that fits the $500 budget. I’m ignorant when it comes to scopes so all help is appreciated.

What features should I look at and or stay away from? MOA vs mil? And anything else you can think of...
