Costa Del Mar help

Ok guys(or gals)..do any of yalls wives or gf's have the VELA's? My gf is wanting a pair of white oakleys for valentines and I aint buying that junk..what I am wondering is if the velas are those bigger frames that the women like? I cant tell by the pictures on the website because when you change the frame color the frame looks different for each..any help would be great! thanks

Yes, they are the somewhat oversized frames. Not as big as some of the no-purpose Hollywood stuff, but definitely a lot bigger than I like for mine to fit.

Yep, and they are all bought and worn by the turds in Mt. Pleasant who drive Z71 pickups with Browning stickers on them. Seriously, they are a decent glass, but their customer service sucks and the frames just do not handle the abuse that a serious fisherman puts on them.

I'm not sure what you do for a living and if you run a charter boat or something like that, then please accept my apologies forthcoming, but I'd be willing to bet that there are VERY few "serious fisherman" that would really put a whoopin' on a pair of sunglasses (while fishing) that frequent this website...

I'm just sayin'...

Costas are great sunglasses, but I do have to say that you can get equal quality in Smith, Native, etc. for less money....

Costas far from suck- i am in the outdoors more days a week than most guys and i am sending mine in for their first fix (worn out hinge) on their THIRD year of riding my ugly face through wind, rain, sleet, snow, and an asssssload of sun.

However- i am looking at others for my second set of "back-up quality shades" mainly because of price not because of a lack of quality in my Costas

If you buy a pair of smiths as your back up I bet you will be selling your "primary" pair of costas in the trading post.

yeah, but this guy didn't ask for alternatives, he asked about the size of a particular pair of glasses. He didn't ask for opinions concerning what he should buy, but as usual, he recieved much more than he asked for....

Dont waste your money on the markups in the local retail store. ive bought many a pair off ebay for $50 cheaper. brand new in the box. just my .02

I've only bought costa and will most likely never change. My dad turned me onto him awhile back (we do a lot of inshore saltwater fishing). He bought his before they came out with the "c" wave logo on the side. He sent them in a month ago because of a worn out hinge. First time he's had to send them in during the over ten year period that he's had them.

i will say this......

The quality of costa's have went down hill over the last 7 years... I broke down and bought a pair when i was 18.. Best pair of costas ive ever owned... have had 4-5 pairs since my original pair. With each pair, the craftmanship and quality have become less and less flattering....i bought my latest pair about a year ago and the lenses are starting to "flake" and the hinges are SHIT...

they bend and are starting to pull away from the actual frame. i believe its from the salt water. The last pair i had, if you didnt wash the hinges out thoroughly with fresh water after a day offshore they would "stiffin" up...

When these finally go...(which wont be long)...i WONT be buying another pair
