    Default Duck Call

I am in the market for a new duck call. Since alot of you guys seem to be pretty knowledgable about these things I thought I would seek your advice. I have a single reed Eddie Cribb and a couple of inexpensive Acryllic calls (Tall Timber and Double Nasty II). I am looking for a nice Acryllic call either Echo or RNT. The RNT rep at the Winyah bay festival really made those calls sound great! I have the RNT complete box set for practicing calling so I am getting better at calling but I am in no way experienced. Any help on what kind of call? And also single or double reed ? I want something loud and raspy ! Thanks for your help

Loud and raspy is usually an oxymoron. There alot of your wood calls that will get pretty loud on the top end but will still stay pretty ducky on the bottom end of a call string. Typically a single reed is going to give you more volume. I would look at a call like the RNT original in wood or acrylic or a single reed echo in wood or acrylic. Both of these are really good call companies and you can call them and they will give tips on how to blow. Look them up on the web and and call them they will help. PM me and I will be to give my number and will help you all I can!!

If you want a loud raspy call look at the Xlt from echo, or a daisy cutter from rnt.

I would suggest a RNT. i bought one last year and i love it, after the season you can send them back to RNT and they will replace the reed and corck for under 5 bucks. They also are very tuff calls. Hope this helps you out.

I got a RNT short barrel this past year and love it and RNT will stand behind anything they sell and then some.

i have the rnt daisy cutter and once you learn how to blow it, it's a tough call to beat for either situation. i also use a rnt quackhead, it's a great call to cut your teeth on and it's priced right for a novice caller (not implying that's you or anything). one rule of thumb i was always told is that a double reed is easier to blow but you won't have the range with it as much as you would a single reed.

an alternate option is Swamp Thing calls. i have heard a couple of buddies use those and they are incredible. i couldn't ever do too much with them though. hth.
