Thank you, I do have a tremendous amount of time and effort making the best stand possible. However, in all fairness these flowers are under Center pivot irrigation. That's a big deal this year!

i watched making it grow last night. probably a repeat. but they were talking to a sunflower farmer up near clemson. they had subsoil irrigation on theirs. sure made a lot of difference in terms of soil compaction. they are growing certain varieties for resale, not dove hunts....but darn healthy plants.

I watch those reruns too. We can be talking about dogwoods or sunflowers. All good stuff to learn. Rowland was great in that role...

He is. I see him at lunch most Saturdays.

My sunflowers have been struggling with the lack of rain (or lack of a center pivot?) but they are going to make it. The deer hammered a couple sections that we replanted late but most of the original planting is okay.

Not a dove field by ANY means,l just an experiment with zero chemicals and zero weed control beyond initial tilling. Watered via sprinkler three times total. Twice for germination and once last week. Bout to get a nice little storm in a few.
